About Hollyn Doula Services

Serving the San Jose & South Bay Area

The Mission:

The goal is to help women have a safe and satisfying birth and postpartum experience as she defines it. Unfortunately, we live in a world of fear-based maternity care so the mission here is simple: EMPOWER and SUPPORT women in THEIR birth and postpartum journeys. This is done by informing mamas of their options and reminding them they always have a choice.

“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.”

Nelson Mandela

Meet Your Doula

Hannah Hardy

Hey Mama!

I’m Hannah: Founder of Hollyn Doula Services, a Birth & Postpartum Doula, coffee lover, an Oregon native that fell in love with a guy from the Bay Area and now lives here after living in Eugene, Portland, Seattle and Kansas City.

Ever since the birth of my three children I have wanted to help other women in their journey of birth and motherhood. From my own experience, and observing other women walk through this season of life, I believe women of this generation do not have the proper support needed to thrive during such a precious and life-changing time. My goal is to aid women in making choices that are empowering and not fear based so that they can experience birth and postpartum in the way they hope for. I look forward to supporting you.

Hannah was fantastic, and we

could not recommend her enough!

She was incredibly knowledgeable, understanding, and just a delightful person! My hubby and I don't think our labor and delivery would have gone as smoothly as it did without her assistance! she was there for us during the pregnancy and postpartum...she gave us loads of information which helped me be less fearful. She provided my hubby with techniques to help me with early labor so he felt more confident too. She really made us feel like a little team! Then, after the birth it was amazing to have someone to talk with in person a week postpartum.

"Hannah came into my

postpartum world at my most

vulnerable time. I had an unexpected cesarean section and it rocked my world. It wasn't what I had planned and recovery was more challenging than I expected.

She helped me navigate this very fragile time by helping me set realistic expectations for myself. She listened and allowed me the space to unpack my story and to recover physically and emotionally. Hannah also helped me navigate going back to work by assisting me in creating a plan that works for me and my family.

I would recommend her to anyone that wants birth or postpartum doula support."

A Note From a Hollyn Dad

Couldn't have asked for anything better - Hannah was fantastic for us!

My wife and I decided to go with Hannah as our doula because she was straight to the point, responsive, flexible, empathetic, upfront, and with no BS. I'm a first time dad, and I really appreciated Hannah's detailed walk through of what to expect - it made me feel adequately prepared (unlike the hospital classes that were way too generic) and calm/ready for when the time comes. When it did, Hannah skillfully guided me to support my wife through the hours of labor (figuring out when to go to the hospital, rotating positions, breathing, focusing etc).

There is nothing too complicated in the (hopefully smooth!) delivery process (now that I know), but there is no way we'd have been able to do it on our own the first time - there is just way too much uncertainty and anxiety around it - but Hannah's mentorship made the entire process feel light, composed, and even pleasant: we knew that someone has our back and we can be safe to focus on the labor progression.

In the end, both I and my wife enjoyed our labor and delivery day (which before I was almost dreading), and I thank Hannah for that!

Moving Through These Times

This has not been an easy past few years, and undoubtedly causes great concern and many emotions around illness of any kind. I would like to ensure you that the health, safety and well-being of both the new family and myself, as your doula, are the priority. Virtual services can be offered in the event either party becomes ill, is high-risk or has concerns. For Covid-19 concerns, my clients may request that on the day of in-person support I take a Covid test prior to arrival. I respect the medical privacy of all parties and will not discuss the vaccination status of anyone. If there becomes a concern for any illness I will require both parties to follow the protocol outlined in the contract. Together we can stay healthy and supported.
